A couple of friends of mine work at a thrift shop in Kitchener.
One day they were surprised to receive a huge load of 200 color co-ordinated dinner plates. The interesting thing about this donation was that each plate had a different and unique pattern. They asked the delivery person what the plates had been used for.
It turns out that the plates were purchased by a bride and groom from many thrift stores for their wedding reception. They wanted colour co-ordinated, but unique table settings for their special day. These plates had been purchased over time from thrift shops so that their special dinner could be eaten in haute couture style, at a fraction of the cost! After the wedding, they packaged the plates up and returned them to the thrift shop, to again be re-sold and re-used.
Brilliant!
